FACETAS is a brief and multi-faceted intermediate Spanish program ideal for use in one-semester courses. It incorporates relevant literary and cultural readings and integrates two kinds of video. The first is a specially-shot sitcom featured in every lesson. The second showcases three original short films by contemporary Hispanic filmmakers. FACETAS' interactive, student-friendly approach focuses on real communication in meaningful contexts, giving students a rewarding learning experience as they strengthen their language skills and develop cultural competency.

The book studies the relation between the avant-garde and graphic humour in two critical historical periods: the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and the early years of the Cuban Revolution (1959-1961). It focuses on the so-called war magazines in Spain on the Republican side (No Veas, Trincheras, and LEsquella de la Torratxa,among others) and the Francoist side (Vértice and La Ametralladora). The present study aims at offering an overview of Spanish-Portuguese (and Spanish-Galician-Portuguese) language contact, both in Europe and in America. It pays a special attention to the history of linguistic interferences in each region, examining how and when lexical borrowings entered the Spanish language and how they disseminated across the Spanish-speaking world.
