Este ensayo está basado en el diálogo “De la brevedad de la vida” escrito por Lucio Anneo Séneca el año 55 después de Cristo. Escribí este ensayo adaptando el diálogo de Séneca por la impresionante vigencia de un diálogo escrito hace más de 2.000 años atrás. Creo que las recomendaciones que entrega Séneca, adaptadas a ejemplos de la actualidad, pueden permitir que muchas personas tomemos mejores decisiones con el bien más valioso que podamos tener, me refiero a nuestro tiempo. Es de mi interés que descubramos la inmensa sabiduría que nos llega del pasado y que podría hacernos evitar tanto sufrimiento por un mal uso del tiempo. Leer es escuchar. En mi opinión, leer este tipo de documentos es como una suerte de poder escuchar la experiencia de un ser humano con mucho sentido común que quería orientarnos hace mucho tiempo atrás y al que no tuvimos la suerte de conocer en persona.
