Este libro recoge el resultado de veinticinco años de investigación sobre los magistrados de la Audiencia del Reino de Valencia durante la época borbónica. El autor ha reelaborado totalmente sus anteriores aportaciones en diversos artículos y ofrece un retrato de grupo en el que aparecen los rostros del poder, los 130 jueces y fiscales que pasaron por el tribunal a partir de 1707, y además los jueces en tiempos difíciles que sirvieron durante el convulso reinado de Fernando VII. Hasta ahora no disponíamos de ninguna obra de conjunto sobre los magistrados de un tribunal borbónico en España, basado en el estudio social del poder.
