This book contains sixteen texts of the author, taken from three of his works: Los misterios de México, Historia de México and El mendigo de San Ángel.

A series of narratives based on the history of a hacienda in San Gertrudis, Chihuahua during the Mexican revolution, with focus on the incursion of rebel troops and the reaction of rural residents. The author (1944) is a native of San Gertrudis.
